Disinformation

Following my initial research into scaffolding as a construction 'parasite', I have disregarded this as a physical channel of my ideas, and have decided to take the idea of this subordinate structure into the non-phenomenological realm of electromagnetic interference, beginning with the regions between radio stations.

Christina Kubisch is a fine artist who, for thirty years, has worked on sound and light installation. A recurring feature in her process is the deconstruction and illumination of the 'invisible' electromagnetic radiation emitted by everyday objects. Her investigation into these hidden soundtracks has encouraged me to instigate a spatial conversation of my own.

Silver lining.

On the first night in Stockholm, Roy realised he had brought the wrong shoes on holiday. Surely he
should have known that he would be needing grippy soles in Scandinavia. So when the little ones
began scaling the mount, he knew that he would see them again at the bottom. Armed with the brute
Canon A1, Roy flexed his trigger finger at the bottom of the slope, and these are the results.

Javier ETCHaberria

Following some heated discussions recently at uni, concerning the running of our course, a few enlightened individuals have taken their initiatives to arrange beneficial workshops, most notably Nathan Gotlib. Last week I attended the etching workshop led by Lloyd, undoubtedly the most laid-back technician in London. The process will interest those of you who are stubborn traditionalists or classical printmakers. It is a meticulous process, too long to verbalize in a post, but let me tell you it involves KNIVES, ACID AND FIRE.

These rhubarbs, only 79 cents.

A brief fixation on Australian local supermarket adverts from the 80s led me to this handful of beauties. I'm particularly struck by the integration of early motion graphics, and the blunt use of typography. Providing stimulus for some moving image I will be working on with Hugh soon. Nearly bought a JVC video cassette camera in Brighton at the weekend which looked like Megatron's ballsack. Dude didn't know if it worked, useless thespian. Hopefully my fellow Freecyclers can offer me something more appropriate than half a fucking ikea table.

FAVORITES

Recently I was sent an email out of the blue by a lovely chap called Derya who works for Woo Magazine. He said that he was putting on a n exhibition in an office / gallery in Emily Carr University, Vancouver, Canada comprising purely of a work found through Flickr favourites, and that he wanted permission to use one of my illustrations in the show. I happily, but cautiously obliged. One and a half weeks later, and I'm sitting here looking at my work in a gallery, without having lifted a finger, and a catalogue on its way to me via airmail. Life is sweet. Here's the press release, and you can peruse in greater detail on WOOMAGAZINE
